Bokashi Bins & Bokashi Buckets
EM Powered Kitchen Composting Bins
This fabulous system ideally complements a Wormery or Compost Bin allowing you to turn ALL your kitchen waste into nutrient rich compost. This includes meat, fish, dairy products and cooked food.
Simply place all kitchen waste into the airtight container and sprinkle with a handful of Bokashi. This is a bran based material made with a culture of micro-organisms which begins to compost the waste.
Inspired by the Japanese, The EM-Powered Bokashi performs the first stages of decomposition using the active micro-organisms. Then, after a few days the contents can be safely transferred from the Bokashi Bucket into a traditional garden compost bin, your Wormery or simply dug into the garden as a soil conditioner and improver.
Like a Wormery, Liquid feed can also be drained off from the Bokashi Bucket and the liquid is alive with beneficial microbes. This can be diluted (100:1) as a nutritious plant feed or poured down drains to prevent algae build up and odours.
The process does not produce smells or attract flies so the Bokashi Bucket container can be safely kept in the kitchen. The Bokashi Buckets themselves are manufactured using EM-charged plastics and has an airtight seal.
The kits come complete with scoop, inner drain tray and around 2 months supply (600g) of Bokashi. They have an 18 litre capacity. Use with a Wormery to improve compost and increase throughput. Extra Bran available.
